Large volcanic craters, wild and rugged landscape, enchanting woodlands, typical Azorean scrubland, patchworks of colourful green pastures and flowery meadows interwoven by the black dry-stone walls greet you when you visit Terciera.

Along with this breathtaking interior, Terceira is home to the city of Angra do Heroismo (Bay of Heroes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding historical monuments. Best viewed from above, (from Brazil Mount) this fortified port is quoted as being the "most beautiful town on the Azores". With its 16th and 17th century palaces, houses, churches and museums, interwoven with cobbled streets, it is easy to see why it has been awarded this status.

Highlights: Make sure you take time to explore the city of Angra, Monte Brasil, Terceira's captivating caves, (Gruta do Natal and Algar do Carv�o) as well as taking in the views from the island's highest peak at Serra de Santa Barbara.
